About Us

Women’s Community Matters philosophy is simple.

“with love, care, compassion and kindness we believe together we can change the world”.

We want to make a positive difference to the lives of women, young girls aged 13 and above and young boys aged 13-17 in the Barrow area.  We want to help in all ways we can, creating a strong resource for women and young people in crisis and those who are vulnerable and at risk.

We strive to create an atmosphere of empowerment and self-development, removing obstacles and dealing with issues together.  The people who benefit from the centre can then play a key role in shaping Women’s Community Matters future and participating in its operation as volunteers, trustees and members.

The Team

The core team of Women’s Community Matters are central to its funding, operation and development. We live and breathe the philosophy that the most important thing is how services are delivered: with love, care, compassion and kindness and this is our vocation. We are real women and men, who understand the pressures, the challenges and the successes that women and young people face on a daily basis.

Volunteers

Volunteers are the backbone of the centre, giving it a warm and friendly face. Every single one has something valuable to offer the women of the centre and without them Women’s Community Matters wouldn’t be able to operate.
