Hi, I’m Sam and I am one of the Development Managers here at the centre.
I began volunteering for Women’s Community Matters shortly after the Centre opened whilst studying for my Social Work degree. I have worked for many years with young people with complex needs, housing/homelessness issues, substance abuse issues and young people who have had experience of being though the care system.
I co-developed the Pause, for thought course, which is working with young women aged 14-19, and the Time, for though course, which is working with young men aged 14-16. These are delivered as part of a weekly group session but is also offered as 1-1 sessions.
I love working alongside young people to raise self-esteem, self-confidence and to help them recognize their own strengths. We have a flexible, laid-back approach to Pause, for thought and Time, for thought delivery which encourages young people to share their experiences and develop empathy and understanding of others situations as well as helping to understand their own place in the world.
