I am currently studying towards my degree in Criminology and Psychology, I came to Women’s Community Matters in October 2015 as a volunteer to put my learning into practice and it felt so much like home I have never left.
I was lucky enough to become a paid member of staff in June 2016 and the main part of my day is working with the ladies, offering one to one support or practical support, which I love. My main role involves leading the Building Better Opportunities Project, which supports women to move closer to employment, education or training. This project funded by the European Social Fund and the Big Lottery.
I run a course called My Safety and Me, which explores personal safety. I love delivering this as I truly love hearing the ladies share their stories with each other and their opinions on the topics we discuss, watching the bonds of friendship developing between them all is always a fantastic sight. I am extremely privileged to have been involved in the development and now the delivery of our addiction support group, ‘Changing Paths’ and community and citizenship course, My Community and Me.
I am so excited to work in these groups as I truly believe none of our stories are set in stone, and everyone deserves the opportunity and support to re-evaluate and make positive changes in their life. See you all soon, Paula xx
